The All People’s Congress APC has called on its members and supporters to make use of established internal party structures when raising concerns, warning against speculation and unverified claims on social media.
This message was delivered by the party’s National Secretary Publicity, Sidi Yayah Tunis, during an interview on AYV Television’s popular morning programme Wake Up Sierra Leone. Tunis emphasized that the APC has clear mechanisms for addressing grievances and resolving internal issues, which members are expected to respect and utilize.
“If you have concerns, there are established units within the party through which you can properly channel your complaints. Do not make assumptions on social media,” Tunis stated during the discussion.
According to him, the leadership of the APC remains committed to transparency, unity, and discipline, and believes that internal dialogue is the most effective way to address misunderstandings or disputes within the party. He noted that airing grievances publicly on social media often fuels misinformation, deepens divisions, and undermines the collective strength of the party.
Tunis explained that the APC has structures at ward, constituency, district, regional, and national levels designed to listen to members and respond appropriately to their concerns. He encouraged party supporters to trust these systems rather than resorting to online commentary that may not reflect the full facts of an issue.
The National Publicity Secretary also cautioned that assumptions and accusations made without proper verification can damage the image of the party and distract it from its broader political objectives. He stressed that constructive criticism is welcome, but it must be expressed responsibly and through the right channels.
During the programme, Tunis reiterated that the APC leadership values feedback from its members and sees open communication as essential to strengthening the party ahead of future political engagements. He said internal cohesion remains a priority, particularly at a time when the party is focused on rebuilding, reorganization, and presenting itself as a credible alternative to the ruling government.
Political observers say the remarks come amid increased online debate among party supporters over internal matters, reflecting the growing influence of social media in Sierra Leone’s political space. While social media has provided a platform for free expression, party officials across the political divide have increasingly raised concerns about its misuse.
Tunis concluded by urging APC members to exercise restraint, responsibility, and loyalty, reminding them that unity is key to the party’s success. He assured supporters that concerns raised through proper channels would be treated with seriousness and fairness.
The APC leadership, he added, remains open to dialogue and committed to maintaining peace and order within the party as it continues its political activities nationwide.
