The Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), Mr. James Baggie Bio, Monday, 18th August 2025, addressed the Road Safety Corps during a muster parade in the Western Area.

His address followed a high-level meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs, AIG (Rtd.) Morie Lengor Esq, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Road Safety Corps and allied enforcement bodies across the country.

Mr. Bio expressed serious concern over increasing cases of indiscipline among personnel, stressing that the Authority’s zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviour, and emphasised strict adherence to organisational rules and ethical standards.

He condemned the growing issue of lateness to work, particularly among personnel on B Shifts (late shifts). He underscored the importance of timeliness as critical to maintaining productivity and public trust. Mr. Bio warned against the unauthorised abandonment of duty posts, noting their adverse effects on operational efficiency and public service delivery.

Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Josie A. Scott-Manga, announced the formation of an Integrity Committee, which would collaborate with the Corps Intelligence Office (CIO) to uphold best practices and ensure compliance with the SLRSA Code of Conduct.

The Director of Safety and Enforcement, Mr. Augustine Kaitongi, reminded personnel of their professional responsibilities, encouraging dedication to duty and high service standards.

Head of CIO, Route Commander Bernardette K. Mattia condemned the practice of withholding drivers’ licenses without following the proper legal and procedural channels. She cautioned against such misconduct and urged personnel to maintain procedural integrity.

The Executive Director concluded his address with a strong call for renewed professionalism, discipline, and teamwork, reiterating the collective responsibility in fulfilling the Authority’s mission of ensuring safer roads in Sierra Leone.
