According to an official statement, Fofana assumes office with immediate effect and will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the company. His role will focus on strengthening internal systems, improving efficiency, and driving strategic growth as AYV seeks to consolidate its position as a leading media institution in Sierra Leone.

The Chief Executive Officer of AYV, Anthony Navo Jr., described the appointment as timely and strategic. He noted that the company is entering a critical phase of expansion and transformation, and requires experienced leadership to guide its next chapter.

Navo said the decision to bring Fofana on board reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing content quality, expanding audience reach, and embracing innovation across its broadcasting and digital platforms. He added that AYV remains focused on delivering credible and impactful journalism while adapting to the changing demands of modern media.

Fofana is widely regarded as one of Sierra Leone’s most respected journalists, with a career that spans both national and international media. He previously served as President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists, where he played a key role in promoting press freedom and professional standards within the industry.

In addition to his leadership experience, Fofana has worked as a correspondent for the BBC, gaining global exposure and building a reputation for credible and balanced reporting. His extensive background in journalism, combined with his leadership credentials, is expected to bring a fresh perspective to AYV’s operations.

Industry observers have welcomed the appointment, describing it as a positive move that could strengthen professionalism and innovation within the media landscape. Many believe Fofana’s presence at the helm of AYV’s management structure will not only boost the company’s credibility but also inspire higher standards across the sector.

As Consultant Managing Director, Fofana is expected to work closely with the executive team to implement reforms aimed at improving operational performance and content delivery. His leadership will also be critical in positioning AYV to compete effectively in an increasingly dynamic and competitive media environment.

The appointment comes at a time when media organizations in Sierra Leone are navigating challenges related to technology, audience engagement, and financial sustainability. With Fofana’s experience and vision, AYV is poised to strengthen its influence and continue playing a central role in informing and educating the public.

His arrival signals a renewed commitment by AYV to excellence, innovation, and growth as it looks to shape the future of broadcasting in Sierra Leone.
