Friday, 14th June 2024 – The President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, Tuma Adama Gento-Kamara has impressed judges and delegates at the sensitization and training programme organised by the ECOWAS Court of Justice for lawyers and Government Agents on the use of the ECOWAS Court Electronic Case Management System. The programme which commenced today 14th June is expected to conclude on the 19th June and it is hosted at the Law Court Complex in Accra, Ghana.
Delivering her speech as the SLBA President, Tuma Adama Gento-Kamara extended appreciation for the invitation, adding that: “the Electronic Case Management and Filing System is designed to modernize and streamline the judicial processes of the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS.” She stated the event is a testament to the collective dedication in making justice accessible, efficient, and transparent.
Madam Gento-Kamara highlighted that the New filing system would give full effect to electronic filing, reduce the cost of litigation for litigants, and remove the burden of lawyers traveling to the ECOWAS Court in Abuja, Nigeria for filing purposes.
President Tuma Adama Gento-Kamara emphasized the importance of the event stating that, “We live in a world where the swift currents of technology reshape almost everything, and so it is incumbent upon us to harness these advancements for the betterment of our judicial systems.”
Other speakers at the event were Her Ladyship, the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, the Chief Registrar of the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice, the Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Ghana, and other Representatives of Bar Associations.
The SLBA President and her delegation were received by Justice Sengu Mohamed Koroma JSC, who is a Justice of the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice representing Sierra Leone.
