This evening, the head of the AU-COMESA EoM, former President Ernest Bai Koroma, along with the former President of Burundi, Domitien Ndayizeye on Thursday visited the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, (IEBC) for a real time update on the progress of tallying of the results. Commissioners Justus Nyang’aya and Professor Addi Gulyie briefed the delegation on their painstaking work. The chairman of the Commission, Wafula Chubukati assured the AU-COMESA delegation that they were being deliberate inorder to ensure that every vote counts.
The delegation was delighted by the care being taken by the IEBC to ensure the integrity of the result. They said the IEBC had made significant progress and urged all Kenyans to exercise patience. “You’ve waited for five years for a better, more transparent electoral process whose outcome should reflect the will of the Kenyan people; it should be worthy to wait three or four days in support of the IEBC in executing this critical national endeavor,” said former President Koroma.
