Hon Justice Alusine Sesay has Tuesday 19 September 2023, issued a bench warrant to ninety-seven absent jurors who were supposed to show up at the High Court of Sierra Leone Criminal Jurisdiction at court No1, Freetown.
Hon. Justice Sesay made this remarks while addressing two hundred and fifteen – 215 jurors in court.
He informed that the court will not tolerate any assigned juror to absent for their different assigned matters in court.
He added that absenteeism has become a bad habit for assigned jurors, insisting that this time around we are going set precedent to discourage such, disclosing he cannot continue while 97 jurors absent, stating is not good for the records.
He furthered that the court will not publish their names but anytime they come to court, drastic action will be taken against them.
The judge also address prison officers to bring in inmates earlier to court for speedy trial, adding that if prisoner did not came to time the matter we be deled.
