Today is a big day in New Jersey. The Chapter reputed for being one of the epicenters for the activities and platform of the great All People’s Congress ( APC ) party will be performing one of the fundamental principles of sustainable democracy–The NJ Chapter will be conducting its executive elections today in consonance with the party constitution and the imperatives of democracy.
As mandated by the constitution, the old executive of APC-New Jersey, headed since 2013 by the young political maverick, Mr. Alimamy Turay, will be dissolving itself and polls will be conducted to elect a brand-new executive in what is expected to be free, fair, credible and acceptable elections, which will be held at the Citizens Club of Franklin, 55 Fuller Street, Somerset, NJ, starting at 5.pm this afternoon.
The Chairman of the Elections Commission will be educationist , Mr. John Samba, who also heads the Mabohanday Organization in America , while the presiding officer will be one of the former APC party heavyweights in the South East of Sierra Leone, Mr. George Mustapha Massaquoi. The chapter hitherto has been benefiting from the acumen and institutional knowledge of another young political stalwart, former Government Sokesman, Mr. Agibu Tejan-Jalloh, the grandson of the founder of the APC, late President Siaka Stevens , who grew up studying APC history, protocols and values.
The Chairman of today’s elections program will be former UN diplomat and now international elections observer with the Washington DC-based international organization, Women in Global Elections Monitoring and Auditing ( WIMAGE ), Rev. Wilfred Leeroy Kabs-Kanu.
The frontrunner of today’s elections will be Mr. Ibrahim Coulson Mansaray, the Vice-President of the present executive, who has vowed to continue the impressive and much-praised legacy of outgoing President Alimamy Turay.
During the presidency of Mr. Turay, the APC -New Jersey Chapter expanded exponentially, attracting dozens of new productive and progressive members , while the financial coffers of the chapter experienced a major upswing.
The party also established more fruitful alliances with other chapters , the APC-USA and the national executive and party branch in Sierra Leone.
Today’s elections will be observed by officials from the ITGC and TIIEMC from Freetown ( Present supervisors of the APC ) , community leaders , heads of organizations and chapter representatives of the APC-USA .
APC-New Jersey is inviting you all to come and see democracy at work.
