Bo, Southern Province, Tuesday, 14th October 2025 – The Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE) has continued its nationwide Civic Day Series in Bo, with a major announcement from the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice that His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has officially signed the Child Rights Act into law.
Delivering the announcement, the Solicitor General Robert Kowa Esq informed participants that the signing marks a historic milestone in Sierra Leone’s ongoing commitment to protecting and promoting the rights and welfare of children. The new law strengthens the legal framework for child protection, ensuring that every Sierra Leonean child is guaranteed safety, access to education, and freedom from abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
“This law is a promise to every Sierra Leonean child — their rights, safety, and future matter.”
The Solicitor General Commended President Bio’s leadership and dedication to advancing human rights, particularly those of children who represent the future of the nation. He noted that the signing of the Child Rights Act is not just a legal achievement but a moral commitment by the government to uphold the dignity of every child.
“President Bio’s signing of the Child Rights Act demonstrates government’s firm commitment to protecting and empowering every child in Sierra Leone.”
Information and Civic Education Minister Hon. Chernor Bah reiterated that the Civic Day Series serves as a platform to bring government closer to the people. Through such engagements, citizens are informed about key policies, reforms, and achievements that impact their daily lives.

Participants at the Bo Civic Day Series described the announcement as a welcome development, praising government’s consistent efforts to strengthen legal and social protection systems for children across the country.
