Sierra Leone Premier League three times champions and FA Cup winners, Bo Rangers, have requested for their championship money. It has been over months since the conclusion of the 2023/2024 Sierra Leone Premier League, yet the Victor Lewis-led board has failed to disburse the funds.
This situation raises significant concerns about the state of football governance in Sierra Leone. How can the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) fail to provide prize money despite receiving substantial sponsorships from Leone Rock Metals, the Government of Sierra Leone, and Cooperative House?
The lack of transparency and accountability within the SLFA has plagued the organization for years, compounded by poor leadership. Clubs are facing severe financial difficulties, yet the association has not adequately addressed these pressing issues.
Sierra Leone football desperately needs reform and transformative leadership capable of elevating the sport from its current state to a brighter future.
