He outlined developmental contributions including the Bo Municipality Stadium, the Siaka Stevens Stadium, Youyi Building, Regent Grafton Highway, the Mange Bridge, the China Sierra Leone Friendship Hospital at Jui as well as medical support China offered the country and the people of Sierra Loene during the difficulties of the Ebola Virus Disease and the global Coronavirus pandemic. Ambassador Wang Quing registered the unwatery commitments of the people of China towards supporting Sierra Leoneans in diverse areas of need. “We are going to give support to agriculture, human capital development, infrastructural development, energy and more”, said Ambassador Wang Quing, and reassured Mayor Musa and his team of the Chinese Embassy’s support to two persons from each of the Local Councils with capacity building soonest.

Earlier welcoming Ambassador Wang Qing and his delegation to Bo city, Mayor Musa applauded the Government of the People’s Republic of China for their continued support to the Government and people of Sierra Leone in different areas. He highlighted council’s efforts in promoting development within the city ranging from Waste Management, infrastructural development, to revenue mobilization.

“Despite the successes we have made and continue to make, there are huge challenges we face and we look forward to support from your embassy and government in addressing these challenges”, stated Mayor Musa. The Bo Mayor stressed that Beijing is a beautiful city and dreamt that Bo be beautiful as the Chinese city, thus why he requested that the Chinese Ambassador creates an avenue for the two cities to twin. He highlighted several areas needing intervention which included but not limited to student exchange programs for university students, other forms of human capital development, agriculture within the city to support the ‘Feed Salone’ initiative, among others. Mayor Musa’s statement was climaxed with the presentation of the Chinese coat of arms as a gift carved from wood, which was presented by the Deputy Mayor, Hawa Campbell and the Acting Chief Administrator, Henry Powell.

Also formed part of the meeting as chairman, the Commissioner, National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Ambassador Ernest Ndomahina, who informed all that as Commissioner of NaCSA, he is committed to creating avenues to link local councils with development partners as that will increase the availability of social amenities for the people in their respective localities. “Your cries I believe will echo in the ears of Ambassador Wang Qing and his government and I am sure, something will be done,” the NaCSA boss assured the Local Council Mayors and Chairpersons.
