The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has confirmed a building collapse at Cemetery Junction, Congress Road, on the evening of Saturday, March 29, 2025. The incident, which occurred at approximately 6:15 PM at No. 4 Congress Road, involved a one-storey structure housing a daycare on the upper floor and a residential dwelling below.
At the time of the collapse, a men’s union team from the Blessed Assurance International Bible Church was conducting a home rehearsal for their upcoming Thanksgiving Service. Unfortunately, one member, identified as Saio Kamara, lost his life and has been taken to the Rokupa Mortuary. Four others sustained injuries, two have already been discharged from the hospital, while the remaining two, in critical condition, have been transferred to Connaught Hospital.
The NDMA, led by its Director of Relief and Response, Sinneh Mansaray, swiftly deployed a rapid response team to assess the situation and provide assistance. The team has ensured that all occupants have been evacuated, and two security personnel have been deployed to maintain stability. Residents within the neighborhood have been urged to remain calm.
NDMA assures the public that it is closely monitoring the situation and would provide further updates as more details emerge.
