Ruchie Davison, a businessman has made his first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngeba of Pademba Road Court No1 for alleged fraudulent conversion of three hundred pieces of cotton tree board into his own, valued over Thirty Million Leones Le30,000,000.)
The accused was arraigned before the court on two counts charges of fraudulent conversion contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The charge sheet indicated that the accused on a date unknown between 1st January and 31st October 2022 at Victoria Street in Freetown fraudulently converted to his own use and benefits Three Hundred (300) pieces of cotton tree board valued thirty-Two Million Mine Hundred and Sixty -Two Thousand Leones entrusted to him by Ibrahim Arapham Bayoh for the purpose of sale.
Shortly after the charges were read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty of the offense. The prosecutor Inspector Tap sought for a short adjournment date that the witnesses were absent in court. The accused was unrepresented in court and so no bail application was made on his behalf. He was sent to the male correctional center in Freetown until 9th June 2023 for hearing.
