It’s unbelievable to accept that one of the oldest political parties in Africa will resort to be holding party meetings at a government institution building (Office Of National Security), in an effort to try to settle their internal party dispute. What’s wrong with the party office? Does it mean that the party hasn’t got any internal peace building mechanism? Where are the Moral Guarantors of the party? Where’s the former Chairman and Leader, President Ernest Koroma?
Political Commentators are of the view that, whether they hold meetings at the ONS, NEC, PPRC or go to Court, it will never yield positive results without the singular involvement of former president Ernest Bai Koroma.
Former president Ernest Koroma is the most prominent, respected and powerful politician in the party who has all what it takes.
The million dollar question people keep asking is why is former president Ernest Koroma so silent in the midst of all these internal fighting within his APC party?
The last time I checked he was either in Kenya, Senegal or somewhere, don’t know exactly. But his external mission on behalf of the African Union and ECOWAS seem to have taken a toll on him. Since leaving power in 2018, the former president has been very busy crisscrossing the continent but paying less attention to the internal politics of his country and most especially his own political party, the APC.
The president shouldn’t be oblivious of the fact that it was the APC that catapulted him to the highest office in the land and also gave him the platform to market himself to the International Community.
Since his party lost power in 2018, they have engulfed themselves in a bitter senseless internal battle. All efforts to bring peace into the party have proved futile and to make matters worse the leader and Chairman, former president Ernest Koroma has decided to pay less attention to the crisis within his party which might affect the party very seriously come 2023 multi-tier elections.
