Held on May 16th in Sierra Leone and Liberia
On May 16th, CARE teams in Sierra Leone and Liberia came together in the respective countries beaches to celebrate CARE Wellness Day, a vibrant, restorative day designed to help staff reconnect with themselves and one another beyond the demands of daily work.
From early morning meditations and uplifting gratitude circles to playful beach games, and team bonding activities, the day was filled with laughter, reflection, and meaningful moments of self-care and connection.
The event in each country opened with guided meditation and prayer to help center the mind, followed by an inspirational wellness talk focused on building resilience and the importance of self-care. Icebreakers sparked joy and new friendships, while a mental health check-in created a safe and supportive space for emotional expression.
The energy picked up with fun physical activities, stretching sessions, beach games, exercises, and creative team challenges. As the waves crashed in the background, colleagues shared in the joy of movement, nature, and togetherness.
After a delicious lunch, the afternoon winded down with calming breathing techniques and a heartfelt gratitude circle. The day concluded with reflection journaling on the prompt, “What recharged me today?” leaving staff refreshed and inspired.
Speaking on the importance of the day, Sylvester Epiagolo, Officer-in-Charge CARE Sierra Leone and Liberia, shared: “Wellness is more than an event, it’s a commitment. At CARE, we believe wellbeing is the foundation for impact. When our people are cared for, supported, and connected, they can care more deeply for the communities we serve.”
CARE understands that staff wellness is essential to delivering on our mission. That’s why we prioritize activities that support emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing.
Through days like this, CARE reaffirms its ongoing commitment to ensuring every team member feels valued, energized, and well; because we know that we can only pour into others when our own cup is full.
