As part of a well-planned activity to increase participation and to extend the base of the game, Cricket Sierra Leone has tasked its coaching staff to implement its Coaching Clinic and Cricket Awareness programme, aiming at a new beginning.
Western Rural is rolling out the scheme with High Performance Manager Kenneth Masinga, Acting Cricket Development Manager Edward Marah, and a host other qualified coaches facilitating it.
Late last week, over two hundred participants from Grafton were trained and registered.
High Performance Manager Kenneth Masinga said he was impressed by Coach Alie Koroma’s effort to developing young cricketers from that part of the Western Area. “In the near future, they will have to feed into the different national squads,” he remarked.
Speaking at the clinic, Development Manager Edward Marah admonished the kids to continue playing cricket. “Encourage your friends and relatives to come and play cricket,” he added.
Similar strides are being made in other parts of the country where the race to hit 30,000 participants at the beginning is going wild.
