Flagbearer aspirant of the All People’s Congress, Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, joined journalists and guests from different walks of life for the Muslim Journalists Annual Iftar 2026 held at the compound of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation in Freetown.
The gathering brought together members of the media, religious leaders, and community stakeholders who assembled in an atmosphere of reflection and unity during the holy month of Ramadan.
The annual Iftar has become a significant event for Muslim journalists and members of the wider media fraternity, providing an opportunity for colleagues and partners to break the fast together while strengthening professional and social bonds. The event also offers a moment for reflection, prayer, and dialogue among participants who share a common interest in promoting unity and responsible journalism.
Hon. Bah’s presence at the event highlighted his continued engagement with the media community and his support for initiatives that encourage interaction between journalists and public figures. His participation was seen by many attendees as a demonstration of the importance of maintaining open channels of communication between political leaders and the media.
Several journalists at the gathering welcomed the opportunity to interact with public officials and other stakeholders in a relaxed and respectful environment. They noted that such platforms allow for meaningful conversations outside the usual pressures of daily news reporting.
Religious leaders present at the event also emphasized the significance of Ramadan as a period that encourages humility, compassion, and unity among people from different backgrounds. They called on participants to use the spirit of the season to promote peace and understanding within their communities.
Participants commended the spirit of togetherness and dialogue that the annual Iftar encourages. Many noted that gatherings of this nature help strengthen relationships between journalists, public officials, and the wider public. They stressed that constructive engagement between the media and national leaders is essential for fostering transparency and accountability in society.
The Muslim Journalists Annual Iftar continues to attract growing participation each year, reflecting the important role the media plays in national life. Beyond sharing a meal at the end of the fast, the event provides a platform for networking, reflection, and the strengthening of professional relationships among members of the press.
As the evening concluded, prayers were offered for peace, unity, and progress in Sierra Leone. Attendees expressed hope that the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect demonstrated at the gathering would continue to guide interactions between journalists, leaders, and citizens across the country.
