The Community Health Foundation Medical Centre in Mile 91 has on Thursday the 26th January 2023 attended it first District Health Management Team Conference in Magburaka headquarter town of Tonkolili District in Northern Region of Sierra Leone.
The focus of the conference was to Strengthening Coordination and Collaboration with all the district medical centres and partners
As It was mandatory to all district hospitals representatives, Community Health Foundation Hospital Administrator Jacoub Muckson Sesay did a 10 minute power-point presentation on Achievements of CHF Hospital, Challenges of CHF Hospital and Activities Plan of CHF Hospital for 2023.
The Presentation was done in a Conference Room at the Tonkolili District Primary Health Care Complex.
The Tonkolili District Medical Officer Dr. Falama chaired the conference.
Speaking at the conference hall, Dr Falama expressed his sympathy over the death of Dr. Adejayan Olaoluwa Medical Superintendent of Community Health Foundation Medical Centre in Mile 91.
Dr. Falama assured to work closely with CHF hospital to achieve it goals and aspirations in medical areas.
He also spoke on issues of Blood Drive and Referal Cases which have been a major problem in the district.
He therefore encouraged all other Peripheral Health Units in Mile 91 and surrounding areas to collaborate with Community Health Foundation Medical Centre so as to minimise untimely deaths in Tonkolili District.
“There were only three medical hospitals in Tonkolili District (Magburaka Government Hospital, Masanga Hospital and Lion Heart Foundation Hospital in Yile Town) and today, the Community Health Foundation Medical Centre with it sophisticated medical equipment and quality services in health care delivering has been named as the 4th medical hospital in the district.)” said Dr. Falama.
Dr. Falama ended by saying that all medical teams to embark on district healthcare and safety activities as a way to reduce untimely deaths.
At the mid of the conference, a representative from the District Health Management Team spoke on Blood Transfusion which she described as a very serious problem in the health sector. She also highlighted some constraints in the Blood Banking System in all Peripheral Health Units in Mile 91 Communities and has requested to CHF Medical Centre to work with other PHUs to salvage the blood banking system in Yoni, Mabang and Malal Mara Chiefdoms.
Foday Jinnah Kabba – Laboratory Technician at the Community Health Foundation Medical Centre in Mile 91 spoke on the reasons why people should do laboratory tests at CHF hospital prior to medical treatments.
He also highlighted areas which will be helpful to engage communities in the district to donate blood.
Foday Jinnah continue by saying that Community Health Foundation Medical Centre in Mile 91 is equipped with all medical facilities and encouraged other Peripheral Health Units to refer all cases of blood transfusion and surgical operations to CHF Medical Centre in Mile 91.
He also said that CHF Medical Centre in Mile 91 has 3 Blood Banks and each bank contained 50 units making it a total of 150 units.
“We have successfully done a blood transfusion to over 100 patients since we started operations in May 2022. I therefore encourage all other PHUs to embrace CHF as a Referal Hospital.” Foday ended.
David Vasty Unchendu – Matron and Anesthesia at the Community Health Foundation Medical Centre in Mile 91 spoke on the successful surgeries done in the hospital.
