FREETOWN, December 20, 2025 (SLENA)- A gesture reflecting deepening bilateral ties and seasonal goodwill, the Chinese Embassy has presented a substantial donation of food items to Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Social Welfare. The contribution, earmarked for distribution to Christian communities ahead of Christmas, underscores a meaningful expansion of China’s longstanding support for the nation’s social welfare.
Presiding over the formal handover ceremony, Charge d’Affaires Zhang Dianbin reinforced the Embassy’s enduring commitment to the people of Sierra Leone. He highlighted that while Chinese aid has traditionally been offered during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, this initiative deliberately extends solidarity and support to Christian citizens as they prepare for their festive celebrations.
“This act is rooted in the lasting friendship between our two countries and our shared values of compassion and community support,” stated Zhang Dianbin. The contribution marks the second consecutive year of this inclusive holiday outreach, signaling a conscious evolution in the Embassy’s philanthropic engagement.

Honourable Minister of Social Welfare,Madam Melrose Karminty, accepted the donation with gratitude, applauding China’s consistent role as a reliable partner. “China has consistently shown itself to be a true friend to Sierra Leone,” Minister Karminty remarked.
