Chief Executive of the Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI), Abdul M. Fatoma, is currently representing Sierra Leone at the prestigious Open Government Partnership (OGP) Global Summit taking place in Spain.
The summit, co-organized by the Government of Spain and the OGP, has convened global leaders, policymakers, and civil society advocates dedicated to promoting transparency, inclusivity, and accountability in governance systems worldwide.
As an experienced international advocate for social justice, human rights, and the rule of law, Abdul M. Fatoma has distinguished himself as one of Sierra Leone’s most respected voices in governance reform and civic accountability. His invitation to the summit underscores his influence and long-standing contribution to strengthening democratic values and human rights both at home and abroad.
During the summit, Fatoma is scheduled to participate in a high-level panel discussion focused on open justice, a central theme that addresses transparency in judicial processes and public access to information. The panel will also feature senior members of the judiciary, including a Supreme Court Justice and a Deputy Chief Justice from South Africa, reflecting the global significance and diversity of expertise represented at the event.
The discussion is expected to explore practical ways to promote judicial openness, safeguard the independence of courts, and ensure that justice systems remain accountable to citizens. These conversations are central to the OGP’s mission of building stronger, more transparent institutions through collaborative governance.
Abdul M. Fatoma’s involvement at this level further cements Sierra Leone’s role as an active participant in global governance dialogues. His participation not only amplifies the country’s voice in international reform initiatives but also demonstrates how civil society leadership can influence constructive change in public institutions.
Through his leadership at CHRDI, Fatoma has consistently championed human rights, civic engagement, and public sector transparency
