Following his appointment as the new Clerk of the Parliament of Sierra Leone, Karmoh Conteh in a bid to improve on the smooth running of Parliament, has today Monday 10/11/2025 met his counterpart, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, Clerk of the Parliament of Ghana.
Their discussions were largely centered on best practices relating to the functioning of the Parliamentary Service’s Board, their roles in the budgeting process and allocations to Parliament.
They also talked about SoCATT (Society of Clerks-at-the-Table) with a view to enhancing its functions, and the need for the digitalization of Parliament, given the importance of improving its information, communication and technology infrastructure to meet the needs of Parliament.
The discussions were climaxed with a conducted tour to the Parliament of Ghana.
In another engagement, through the Clerk of the Parliament of Ghana, Karmoh Conteh, Clerk of the Parliament of Sierra Leone also had discussions with Tomer Novotny, the Director, Business Development of Super Tech Limited. It is a Ghana based Israeli Company that is engaged in a digital project for the Parliament of Ghana. During the discussions, Tomer shared knowledge about their digital project in the Parliament of Ghana and how Sierra Leone Parliament could learn and draw lessons from the said project. The discussions were deemed fruitful as they gave insights to the possible challenges usually faced by digitalization and how they could be addressed.
You may recall that since his appointment as the Clerk of Parliament, Karmoh Conteh has hit the ground running, following his recent election by his peers in South Africa as the First Vice President of the Association of Clerks and Secretaries General of African Parliaments, an Association which is established to provide advisory opinions and support for the effective and efficient operations of Parliaments in the African Continent.
