COFA League….. 12 Matches 18 Goals Scored

The ongoing Central One Football Association, (COFA) Community League, has recorded eighteen (18) goals so far out of twelve matches played at the Parade playing ground, Off Circular road, central Freetown.

The Inter-Community League sponsored by Mohamed Gento Kamara  consists  of forty (40) teams battling for a star prize of Fifty Million Old Leones (50,000,000), while the runners up will take home Thirty Million Old Leones (30, 000,000)  and Twenty Million Old Leones (20, 000,000)  for the third place team.

The competition started on the 20 August 2023, at the Parade Field, Circular Road, Freetown. It was Bambara Town community the first to secure their first winning of the tournament by defeated the defending champion, Kroo Town Road by a goal to nil in the opening ceremony.

The following day, Angola Tong held Hill Station to a goalless draw in a mouthwatering encounter.

On the 22 August 2023, the runners up of last year’s COFA league, Summer City kicked off their 2023 campaign with a 1-0 victory against the Lumley Community.

Summer City’s sensational defender commonly known as MO scored the only goal of the match.

The other team that had secured all three points is the Fire Burn FC, they defeated the Adonkia community by a single goal to nil.

On the 24 August 2023, another tight battle occurred between Magazine community and Aberdeen where the Aberdeen community had already leading by a goal to nil, but the match was later cancelled due to a torrential rain fall.

Cofa are yet to release a date for the remaining minute of that match to be played.

Also, two better rivals, Wellington and the Kissy Community lucks horns on the 25 August 2023, after the end of the match , Kissy Community carries the day. They defeated Wellington by two goals to one.

Another cracker match took place on 26 August 2023, between the Fourah Bay and Hada Tower  Hill, Fourah Bah defeated Hada Tower Hill by a single goal to nil.

Moreover, on the 27 August 2023, we saw the highest number of goals scored since the inception of the competition, when Kroo Bay defeated Hill side community by four goals to one.

On the following day, Mount Aureol and Kanitonians had a one-one draw.

Spectators also witnessed a goalless draw on the 29 August 2023 between Central and Luawa FC (Kailahun), whistle Moa Wharf defeated Kingtom by one goal to nil.

Abacha City and Wilberforce Community had to go head-to-head on Thursday 31 August 2023, the said match ended in favour of Wilberforce Community , defeated Abacha city by one goal to nil.

The league will continue today Friday 1 September 2023 with Kossoh Town will be facing Murray Town at the Parade Field, Off Circular Road.
