Sierra Leone’s top diplomat to Kenya, Her Excellency Isatu Aminata Bundu has resigned from her position as High Commissioner to Kenya.
She had served as Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the Sierra Leone High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya, from March, 2021 to September 2024.
Commissioner Bundu is the daughter of the former speaker of Parliament, Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu. She had replaced the late Peter Joseph Francis, elder brother to the former Chief Minister and Foreign Minister, David Francis.
The resignation of Sierra Leone’s top diplomat in Kenya came about six months after her father also tendered his resignation letter as Speaker of the House.
Sierra Leone’s Foreign Minister, Timothy Kabbah, has on behalf of President Bio accepted her resignation.
This is the second time a Sierra Leone diplomat is resigning from a top diplomatic job. In 2013, the late Wusu B. Munu resigned as High Commissioner extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Commissioner Bundu has already bid farewell to Kenya’s President William Ruto at Kenya’s State House and other diplomats at the Kenya Foreign Ministry.
