Freetown, Sierra Leone, Ibrahim Suma, an apprentice on last Friday, 1 November, 2024, was again arraigned before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on two count charges Conspiracy to commit a crime – Contrary to Law and Larceny By Servant Contrary to Section 17 (1) a of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence that you on Sunday 1 September, 2024 at Queen Elizabeth II Quay Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, conspired together and with other person (s) unknown to commit a crime to wit Larceny by servant.

Count two further stated that on the same date and place above being a servant employed by Zak Building Materials did steal Eight Hundred and Ten (810) bags of imported cement, value One Hundred and Fifty-Five Leones (Le155) each all to the total value of One Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand Five Hundred and Fifty Leones (NLe125, 55) the said property of Zak Building Materials.

The prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police, Thoronka sought for a short adjournment date as her witness was absent.

The representative of the Defendant, S. L. Lewis pleaded for mercy on behalf of the accused person and magistrate Bangura should tamper justice as the defendant is a fervent Muslim who will like to perform his Jumah. He added that the defendant is Sierra Leonean and has reliable sureties who will arraign themselves whenever the court needs them.

Meanwhile, magistrate Bangura granted bail to the accused person in the sum of one hundred and Thirty Thousand Leone (Le130,000,00) with two sureties who must be responsible citizens resident here in Freetown The bail is to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar. However, the case was adjourned to the 21 November, 2024, for further hearing.
