In recent days, social media has been rife with unfounded accusations aimed at Mohamed Gento Kamara and the Gento Group of Companies. A particular post falsely claimed that a vehicle allegedly belonging to Gento was used to block the road, preventing lawyers from reaching Kenema to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and cast their votes. These claims have been thoroughly debunked and identified as part of a smear campaign orchestrated by opponents of Tuma Adama Gento-Jabbi, specifically from the camp of APC Wara Serry-Kamal.

The allegations were designed to create unnecessary controversy and distract from the significant event—the election of Tuma Adama Gento-Jabbi as President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association on May 18, 2024. Contrary to the baseless claims, Mohamed Gento Kamara had no involvement in the incident. Sources close to the situation have confirmed that the vehicle in question was strategically placed by operatives linked to APC Wara’s camp to generate unwarranted attention and disrupt the election process.

The election results speak for themselves: Tuma Adama Gento-Jabbi received an overwhelming majority of 560 votes, leaving her opponents Wara Serry-Kamal and Augustine Sorie Marah with 23 and 15 votes respectively, and 28 votes deemed void. Out of the 1,200 registered voters, the outcome clearly demonstrated the strong support for Tuma Adama Gento-Jabbi.

The election, though marred by transient disruptions, has been widely recognized as free and fair, reflecting the democratic values of the Sierra Leone Bar Association. Observers and participants alike have praised the integrity of the voting process and the professionalism displayed by all involved parties.

Mohamed Gento Kamara was present in Kenema solely to support his wife during this pivotal moment in her career. The attempt to tarnish his reputation and that of the Gento Group of Companies is not only misleading but also a blatant effort to undermine the democratic process.

In light of these events, it is crucial for the public to remain vigilant against misinformation and to critically evaluate the sources of such claims. The Gento Group of Companies, under the leadership of Mohamed Gento Kamara, continues to uphold its commitment to integrity and community support, undeterred by unfounded accusations.

As the Sierra Leone Bar Association moves forward under the leadership of President Tuma Adama Gento-Jabbi, the focus remains on upholding justice, professional excellence, and the rule of law. The association looks forward to a future of continued progress and unity within the legal community.
