Mrs. Fatmata Kamara, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry delivered a heartwarming keynotes address where she joined key players in the trade sector in celebration of the WORLD METROLOGY DAY 2025 organized by Sierra Leone Standards Bureau in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, at the Sierra Leone Standards Bureau office, east end, Freetown.
The Deputy Minister, Mrs. Kamara, expressed how honored and grateful she is to stand in representation of her boss, Mr. Ibrahim Alpha Sesay, the Minister of Trade and Industry to address and celebrate the World Metrology Day 2025 under the theme: “Measurements For All Times; For All People.” which encapsulates the enduring significance of Metrology, the science of measurement in driving progress, ensuring fairness, and promoting inclusivity across all aspects of human living.
She highlighted that accurate and reliable measurements are the bedrock of trust in both the domestic and international market, which are essential for fair trade practice, ensuring that goods are measured accurately, prices are just, and consumers receive true value for their money.
*”The theme: Measurements For All Times, for All People emphasize that no one should be left behind, whether it’s a smallholder farmer, a local artisan, or an exporter. Measurements must empower everyone, regardless of their background or location”, she noted.*
In her address, Mrs. Fatmata Kamara, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry also reminded the gathering that as a government, they are strongly committed to advancing H.E President Bio Big Five Game Changer inscribed in the Medium-Term National Development plans (2024-20230) adding that their efforts in strengthening Metrology Infrastructure aligns seamlessly with initiatives like *Human Capital Development, Infrastructure Development, Agriculture Transformation, Private Sector Development and Good Governance.*
Mrs. Kamara positioned their commitments in ensuring that Metrology supports broader goals of sustainable development such as promoting environmental sustainability, improving health and safety standards, and fostering innovation, which effortlessly contribute to a brighter future of the nation while aligning with global aspiration for equity and property.
The Deputy Minister, made a strong call to all and sundry to reaffirm individual commitments to the principles of accuracy, fairness and inclusivity in trade, together, in building a system where measurements truly work for all, ensuring that Sierra Leone prosper on the foundation of trust, innovation and opportunity.
In closing, Mrs. Fatmata Kamara, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry assured the gathering that the government will continue to prioritize Metrology as a key driver of economic development, adding that tirelessly they will work to create an environment where every citizen can benefit from the power of precise measurements, ensuring that the nation thrives now and for generations to come.
