Divine Peoples Foundation-SL donates to the poor
To give back to the community where he was born and raised and the community that stood by him during difficult times, the Executive Director of the Divine Peoples Foundation-Sierra Leone, Mr. Augustine Thorpe on Saturday 14th January 2023 distributed used clothing and money to only 80 children and 100 adults including women and men in Kroo Bay, one of the most deprived communities in Freetown.
The cost of the donated items and shipment is estimated at Le40 million.
Since the founding of the organization five years it has been donating gifts to the less-privileged in various parts of the city, especially deprived communities.
According to Mr. Augustine Thorpe, the gifts were donated free of charge by people in his community in the United States, that he has been making the donation that includes food and non-food items since 2017, that this year he shipped 10 barrels of used clothing at the cost of 1,100 dollars and revealed that more goodies are expected.
He also called on the beneficiaries to pray for the donors in America for God to richly bless and reward them and pledged that he would continue with the gesture.
Most of the beneficiaries interviewed informed this medium that Mr. Augustine Thorpe grew up in the community, that he is not proud, that his parents were generous which he learned from them, commended him for not selling the items and appealed to others to emulate his sterling example.
The beneficiaries were chosen devoid of sentiments.
