At a time when Sierra Leoneans are calling for credible, forward-looking leadership, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura is emerging as one of the most compelling figures in the country’s political landscape. A respected academic, peacebuilder, and committed APC stalwart, he represents a refreshing blend of intellect, integrity, and national vision.

Born into a politically active APC family, Dr. Bangura’s foundation was shaped early by service and discipline. Rather than pursuing politics through patronage, he chose the path of excellence—earning a PhD in Economics in Germany, alongside advanced degrees in International Development and Gender Studies. Today, he serves as an Associate Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies at Fourah Bay College, bringing global knowledge home to help shape Sierra Leone’s future.

Dr. Bangura’s influence extends well beyond academia. He has worked with international institutions including the United Nations, ECOWAS, and the African Union, contributing to peacebuilding, governance reform, and development initiatives. His recognition as an Afox Fellow at the University of Oxford underscores his international credibility and leadership potential.

Within the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Bangura is widely respected for his consistency and commitment. He founded the APC Students Association at Fourah Bay College and has continuously supported party growth through youth engagement, civic education, and organizational development. Importantly, he has never held government office—positioning him as a unifying figure unburdened by past controversies.

His vision for Sierra Leone is clear: unity, inclusive governance, youth empowerment, and economic transformation driven by knowledge and integrity. Through initiatives such as voter education and the nationwide anti-drug campaign against Kush, Dr. Bangura demonstrates leadership that goes beyond politics and speaks directly to the moral and social challenges facing the nation.

As the APC looks toward the future, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura stands out as a symbol of renewal and hope—a leader with the ideas, credibility, and character to help guide Sierra Leone toward stability and prosperity.
