All Peoples Congress flagbearer aspirant, Dr Ibrahim Bangura, has continued his ongoing tour of Sierra Leone’s southeast with a key stop in Pujehun District, where he engaged grassroots women and party supporters in a series of political and community discussions.
During the visit, Dr Bangura was warmly introduced to members of the Female Farmers Network of Fairo by Naasu Fofanah, former Gender Advisor to ex President Ernest Bai Koroma and a proud daughter of Pujehun District. The engagement formed part of efforts to strengthen grassroots participation in the political process and to highlight the role of women in development and governance.
Naasu Fofanah presented the DIB Movement to the women’s group, stressing the importance of ensuring that women’s voices are included in shaping inclusive governance structures. She noted that rural women remain central to agricultural production and community stability, and therefore deserve greater representation in decision making processes at both local and national levels.
Fofanah’s presence as a native of Pujehun added significance to the engagement, as it bridged national political conversations with local realities. Her interaction with the Female Farmers Network was seen as an effort to amplify the district’s contribution within the broader political direction of the APC and to encourage stronger participation of women in party activities.
Speaking during the gathering, Dr Ibrahim Bangura congratulated winners of the recent ward elections in Pujehun District. He urged them to remain humble and magnanimous in victory, emphasizing the need to avoid actions that could create tension or undermine party unity at the grassroots level.
He further called on party supporters to reject electoral malpractice in all its forms, stressing that discipline and fairness must remain central to the APC’s internal democratic processes. According to him, the strength of any political party lies in its ability to manage competition without division.
Dr Bangura reiterated his consistent message of peace, unity, and discipline, noting that these values are essential for rebuilding trust and strengthening the party ahead of future political contests. He encouraged members to focus on cohesion rather than internal conflict, adding that unity within the APC will be key to its future success.
He also highlighted the importance of engaging young people and women in political activities, describing them as critical stakeholders in shaping the future of the party and the country. He assured supporters that his movement remains committed to inclusive leadership and grassroots empowerment.
The visit to Pujehun forms part of a wider tour by Dr Bangura across the southeastern region, where he has been engaging party structures, community groups, and key stakeholders. His outreach is seen as part of early mobilization efforts ahead of internal party processes.
Observers note that such engagements continue to shape political conversations within the APC, particularly around leadership renewal and grassroots inclusion. Supporters in Pujehun expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as encouraging and timely for the district’s political engagement.
The tour is expected to continue to other districts in the southeast as Dr Bangura seeks to consolidate support and strengthen party unity across the region.
