Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, a leading Presidential aspirant of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), took part in a significant National Advisory Committee (NAC) meeting held at the party headquarters in Freetown. His participation marked a notable moment in the APC’s ongoing preparations for the 2028 general elections, and was met with enthusiasm from party members and senior stakeholders.

As one of the most prominent contenders for the party’s Presidential flagbearer position, Dr. Bangura’s presence at the NAC meeting underscored his deep engagement with the party’s internal processes and strategic planning. His attendance was greeted with a warm and respectful reception, signaling growing support for his candidacy among the party’s grassroots and leadership.

Party insiders described the atmosphere as cordial and focused, with Dr. Bangura engaging actively in discussions centered on party unity, electoral strategy, and national development priorities. His contributions were seen as thoughtful and aligned with the APC’s broader vision to reclaim governance and restore confidence in public institutions.

The National Advisory Committee, the highest decision-making body of the APC outside of convention, convened the meeting to address pressing issues facing the party and to map out the road ahead as the political climate intensifies. The involvement of key Presidential aspirants, including Dr. Bangura, reflects the party’s commitment to inclusivity, dialogue, and internal democracy.

Dr. Bangura, known for his grassroots connection and academic credentials, has steadily emerged as a strong contender for the APC flagbearer slot. His campaign has gained momentum in recent months, with supporters praising his vision for economic transformation, youth empowerment, and institutional reform.

During the NAC meeting, Dr. Bangura was reportedly engaged in private discussions with influential party stakeholders, further demonstrating his strategic approach to consensus building. Observers noted that his ability to work across various party factions positions him as a unifying figure within the APC at a time when the party is striving to present a strong and united front to the electorate.

In brief remarks to the media following the meeting, Dr. Bangura reiterated his commitment to the values and principles of the APC. He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility, urging all aspirants and members to prioritize party unity above personal ambition.

“Our focus should remain on building a better Sierra Leone,” he stated. “That begins with strengthening our party structures, listening to our people, and offering real solutions to the challenges facing our nation.”

The warm reception given to Dr. Bangura at the NAC meeting is widely seen as a boost to his Presidential aspirations. His visibility within key party structures, coupled with growing grassroots support, positions him as a formidable figure in the APC’s evolving leadership landscape.

As the APC continues its journey toward selecting its next flagbearer, the active participation of aspirants like Dr. Bangura sends a clear message of readiness, unity, and democratic engagement—key ingredients for the party’s success in the upcoming elections.
