The Country’s Benediction, Dr Ibrahim Bangura, has extended warm Eid al Fitr greetings to members of the All People’s Congress and the people of Sierra Leone, calling for unity, compassion and renewed commitment to national development.

In a goodwill message delivered on Friday, Dr Bangura expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to celebrate the end of Ramadan alongside thousands of citizens at Victoria Park in Freetown. He described the gathering as inspiring, noting that the atmosphere reflected a shared desire for peace, progress and a better future for the country.

He said witnessing the joy and togetherness of the people during the Eid prayers and celebrations strengthened his belief that Sierra Leoneans are united in their aspirations despite challenges. According to him, the spirit displayed during the occasion serves as a reminder of the strength that lies in collective purpose and mutual respect.

Dr Bangura urged citizens to carry forward the lessons learned during Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of compassion, devotion and community. He noted that the holy month was not only a period of fasting but also a time for reflection, sacrifice and spiritual growth, values he encouraged Sierra Leoneans to uphold beyond the celebrations.

He further called on all citizens, regardless of political, religious or social differences, to come together in the interest of national unity. He stressed that the future of Sierra Leone depends on the willingness of its people to work together in harmony and to prioritize the common good over individual interests.

Highlighting the need for national healing, Dr Bangura appealed for renewed efforts to bridge divides and foster understanding among communities. He said the country’s progress can only be achieved through peace, cooperation and a shared vision for development.

The message also underscored the importance of building a prosperous nation where opportunities are accessible to all. Dr Bangura encouraged citizens to remain hopeful and committed to contributing positively to the growth and transformation of Sierra Leone.

As Muslims across the country marked Eid al Fitr with prayers, feasting and acts of charity, Dr Bangura extended his prayers for peace, joy and blessings to every home. He wished all Sierra Leoneans a happy and meaningful celebration, urging them to embrace the spirit of giving and togetherness that defines the occasion.

He concluded by reaffirming his confidence in the resilience and determination of the people, expressing optimism that with unity and dedication, Sierra Leone can achieve the progress and prosperity its citizens deserve.
