The Charismatic and presumptive All People’s Congress (APC) flag bearer, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, today, Saturday, 15th November 2025 drew one of the largest political gatherings the Western Area Rural District has witnessed in recent years as his nationwide “Meet the People Tour” stormed Waterloo.
The atmosphere in Waterloo erupted into a carnival-like celebration long before his arrival. His stop at the Bassa Town transformed the famous Bassa Town Field into what many eyewitnesses described as a “human forest,” as thousands of supporters thronged the venue. Party faithful, youth groups, market women, community leaders, bike riders, and residents lined the streets, waving flags and chanting APC slogans that echoed across the community.
Clad in red-themed party attire and waving banners, the massive crowd burst into cheers as Dr. Bangura made his way through the field on foot, shaking hands and greeting supporters. The scene was peaceful, colourful, and highly energised; a clear signal of his growing influence within the party and across the country.
Dr. Bangura’s tour has gained remarkable momentum in recent weeks, with many supporters describing it as “a movement anchored on hope, unity, and national restoration.”
Addressing the jubilant crowd, Dr. Bangura reiterated his message of peace, unity, and national cohesion, emphasising that Sierra Leone must rise above divisions.
“I want a country where every Sierra Leonean feels they belong – where we see one another as brothers and sisters,” he said.
He stressed the need for a future where children can attend schools of their choice, citizens can access quality medical care, and people can travel across the country freely and without hesitation.
Dr. Bangura also announced that his movement will soon embark on a national healing and unity campaign, aimed at repairing social fractures and strengthening national harmony.
He reminded supporters that “Sierra Leone is for every Sierra Leonean, regardless of tribe, region, or background.”
Calling for support for both his APC flagbearer bid and his long-term presidential ambition, he assured party members that he is committed to “changing the narrative of Sierra Leone as a country of contradictions.”
He further pledged to protect the votes of APC supporters in the 2028 elections, emphasising that safeguarding electoral integrity will be a cornerstone of his leadership approach. Dr. Bangura also expressed profound gratitude to his team and the enthusiastic crowd for their unflinching support.
As the sun set over Waterloo, the energy at Bassa Town Field showed no signs of fading. With momentum building and support growing across the districts, Dr. Bangura’s tour continues to deepen his position as a formidable frontrunner in the APC’s flagbearer race, and a rising force in Sierra Leone’s political landscape.
