In the continuing matter investigating the first accused Dr Sylvia Olayinka Blyden and Hussein Mucson Sesay has asked Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 on Pademba Road to kindly offer her computer and an internet facility to be able to research and study matter well since her charges are internet related. The First accused person also requested that she be provided with all exhibits as she has asked the court the Deputy Registrar in an application and via a letter.
Magistrate Bonnie replied that if the prison department has such facilities then she will write for her to be provided the opportunities in her cell, assuring her that she would ensure that the first accused person Dr Blyden that she will be served with all exhibits by the Deputy Registrar.
Dr Blyden made the humble request whiles confidently representing herself in cross examinations on the continuing matter with Police detective Superintendent M.K. Aliue presided over Magistrate Hannah Bonnie.
The defendant also pleaded with learned Magistrate Hannah Bonnie to give her back her bail for the last time, considering that they are both women and vowed not to disrespect women in any profession.
She informed the court about her appalling medical condition which the learned Magistrate Bonnie promised to take her concerns into cognisance the next sitting, considering them as passionate pleas.
Throughout the one hour ten minutes cross examination with Aliue, Dr Blyden asked the Police officer Aliue why charges were not brought against her for alleged issues of causing unrest in the country to which the Police denied, further questioning why were armed Police personnel deployed in her compound which the Police officer also refused to answer before the court.
On why her resident was placed under house arrest as if she committed the worst crime, the Police officer Aliue said the deployment was done to protect and safeguard her property.
The defendant stated that even when the armed Police personnel were withdrew she was still held in detention in cell at the Criminal Investigations Department and was never release, wondering the kind of security the Police had wanted to provided her property. The matter was adjourned to Friday 12th June for further cross examinations.
