Senior member of the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party, Dr Sylvia Olayinka Blyden has on Tuesday 26th August 2025 paid warmest condolences and tribute to the family of Ambassador Omrie Golley who recently lost their dearest mother, Minnette Iyatunde Honora Golley.
During her official visits to the residence of Ambassador Omrie at Villa 2, Dream Atlantic Garden Villa, Aberdeen Beach, Freetown, to sign the book of condolences in honour of late Mama Minnette, Dr Blyden recounted the contributions of Mama Minnette as a leading APC woman who stood with the party during its struggles in the 70s and 80s. She said, because of Mama Minnette’s education, the APC government of Late President Stevens relied on Mama Minnette and her ranks for genuine advocacy for the women of Sierra Leone.

As per tradition, Dr Blyden presented a token of condolences of one thousand Leones (NLe 1,000) to members of Ambassador Golley Team present. She said that was her and the Blyden’s own symbolic support to the Golley Family as they prepare to lay their late mum to rest on Friday 29th August 2025.
Responding, the Personal Assistant to Ambassador Golley, Abdul Malik Bangura expressed on behalf of Ambassador Golley the ambassador’s warmest regards to Dr Blyden. He expressed admiration for the show of solidarity from Dr Blyden, adding that the show of love will never go unnoticed.
