In a decisive crackdown on drug trafficking, police officers at the Bo Fallah Checkpoint intercepted two men attempting to smuggle a large quantity of illicit substances on February 15, 2025.
The swift action of the police led to the arrest of Muminy Bah, a passenger from 4 Mile- Waterloo, and Edward Koroma, a driver from 47 White House- Grafton, Freetown.
During a routine security check, officers discovered a significant quantity of Tramadol in Bah’s possession. Koroma was also found with a substantial amount of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. Both individuals were immediately taken into custody, along with the confiscated drugs, and transported to the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) at the Regional Police Headquarters- South in Bo for further investigation.
Authorities have confirmed that charges would be filed against the suspects as the inquiry unfolds. Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Brima Kanneh, the Regional Police Commander South, was promptly informed of the arrests.
He praised the officers for their diligence, emphasizing that the Bo Fallah Checkpoint has become a critical frontline in the battle against drug trafficking. “This checkpoint is proving to be a vital tool in intercepting criminals involved in illicit trade,” AIG Kanneh stated. “Our officers remain committed to keeping our communities safe by preventing these dangerous substances from spreading.”
One of the key figures in the operation was Police Detective Constable Mohamed Patrick Ngobeh, the lead officer on the search team. His keen eye and dedication have been instrumental in several successful drug interceptions at the Bo Fallah Checkpoint. Ngobeh’s exceptional work has not only contributed to the recent arrest but has also cemented his reputation as a formidable force in the fight against organized crime.
As the investigation progresses, law enforcement officials reaffirm their commitment to ensure that justice is served. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities that could threaten the safety of the community.
Residents of Bo and surrounding areas have expressed their appreciation for the continued efforts of law enforcement in tackling the growing problem of drug trafficking. Many see the arrests as a step in the right direction towards a safer and more secure environment.
The Bo Fallah Checkpoint remains a key stronghold in Sierra Leone’s fight against illegal drug smuggling. Officers stationed there continue to demonstrate professionalism and determination in their mission to curb criminal activity. Their unwavering commitment to upholding the law is a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice and public safety.
With investigations still ongoing, authorities remain focused on dismantling networks responsible for the trafficking of illegal substances.
The arrests of Bah and Koroma send a clear message: drug traffickers will find no safe passage through Bo.
