The All People’s Congress (APC) party continues its efforts to document the party’s historical journey and achievements through the ECO APC documentary series, with the latest release dedicated to one of its most influential female figures, Madam Finda Diana Konomanyi.

Madam Konomanyi’s political career is both extensive and remarkable, spanning several decades of service to the APC and Sierra Leone. She previously served as Regional Chairperson East, District Council Chairperson, Minister of Lands, and later Minister of Local Government and Rural Development under the administration of former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.

Her leadership and political influence, particularly in the eastern region, made her one of the most prominent voices within the party. More significantly, her role during the APC’s resurgence to power under Dr. Koroma is regarded as one of the defining contributions in the party’s modern history.

According to the ECO APC documentary team, Madam Konomanyi stands out not only for the positions she held but also for the depth of knowledge she carries about the APC’s evolution. They described her as a “living archive” of the party’s successes and struggles, able to recount events, strategies, and turning points without the aid of a script. This, they noted, reflects her deep-rooted connection to the party’s growth and resilience over the years.

The documentary highlights her perspective on critical moments that shaped the APC’s political fortunes, offering viewers a chance to understand how strategic decisions, leadership choices, and grassroots mobilization enabled the party to reclaim power in 2007 after years in opposition. Her testimony underscores not just the political history of the APC but also the personal sacrifices and determination that went into building the foundation for its return to governance.

The ECO team explained that dedicating this release to Madam Konomanyi was a deliberate choice, given her unique role in bridging leadership, grassroots activism, and women’s political participation. By sharing her version of events, the series aims to spotlight the often-overlooked contributions of women in shaping Sierra Leone’s political landscape.

“Madam Konomanyi’s story is not only about the APC’s transformation but also about the role of women in politics and their ability to influence the direction of national governance,” one member of the documentary team emphasized.

Her segment in the documentary also reflects on the challenges the party faced, including navigating political opposition, building trust with voters, and addressing governance issues. By drawing from her personal experiences and leadership journey, the film provides a rare perspective on how the APC’s victories were achieved and sustained.

The documentary calls on the public to watch this special release, encouraging Sierra Leoneans to gain a deeper appreciation for the APC’s history and the individuals who played pivotal roles in shaping it. For many within the party, Madam Konomanyi represents both resilience and loyalty, qualities that continue to inspire the next generation of APC leaders and supporters.

The ECO APC documentary series continues to serve as a vital platform for preserving the party’s legacy. With Madam Konomanyi’s version now captured, it not only celebrates her contributions but also reaffirms the importance of documenting the voices of those who helped shape Sierra Leone’s democratic journey.
