ECOFEST is not a strange name when it comes to entertainment in Sierra Leone because people have experienced a lot of goodies in the entertainment arena courtesy of this festival.
It’s not a secret that ECOFEST is the most anticipated musical festival in Sierra Leone.
This year’s event will be bigger and it is set for the 20 and 21 December 2024.
ECOFEST is an event that brings artists from different West African (ECOWAS) countries to perform on one stage. The main goal of the event is to bring unity and diversity by creating a universal musical entertainment language amongst West Africans.
When the news broke about this year’s ECOFEST, there was a lot of excitement from people on social and other mainstream media in the country; considering this year’s event will be the maiden edition of the new Chief Executive Officer of ECOFEST.
It could be recalled that Mrs. Hawa Turay popularly known as Hawawa has taken over as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ECOFEST.
Hawawa’s appointment as CEO of ECOFEST is not a surprise to many because she has been in the entertainment industry for far too long. She is Sierra Leone’s first representative to Miss Universe, former Miss West Africa (2013) among many beauty pageants she had won over the years.
To show that she is ready for business, the new CEO of ECOFEST, Hawawa has provided an overview into this year’s festival format. “ECOFEST 2024 will take place for two days from December 20 to 21st of this year. Day 1 will feature a Comedy Show, Fashion & Miss ECOFEST competition, and a showcase of Sierra Leonean culinary. Day 2 will host DJs & Hype Competitions, a Musical Concert, and a Jam Session” she noted.
And for the Winner of this year’s ECOFEST beauty pageant, the CEO admitted that a fully paid, all-expenses trip to Dubai + NLe50,000 cash for the winner, the 1st Runner-Up would take home the sum of NLe25,000, and the 2nd Runner-Up would also take home the sum of NLe10,000. This is a huge milestone in the entertainment industry that young, and energetic girls will not afford to miss.
She noted that this year’s ECOFEST would be different and that people would sense a great musical festival ever in the country.
Some of the things that made this event unique is that on the night of performance over 20 superstars in West Africa and even beyond will share one-mic, one-stage and one-venue and it has been the festival’s tradition.
ECOFEST is not just any event; it’s a vibrant celebration of Sierra Leone, African culture, music, fashion, and beauty.
