The National Returning Officer for the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has released 60% of the Presidential vote cast during the June 24 Polls.
Mohamed Kenewui Konneh made this disclosure on Monday 26th June 2023, at the commission headquarters O.A Drive, Tower Hill Freetown.
According to Mr Konneh the 60 percent results are partial and do not represent the complete outcome of the Presidential Election results.
According to the partial results that was released by the ECSL, the incumbent candidate Dr. Julius Maada Bio of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) is currently leading the race with a total number of 1,067,666 vote cast, whilst the main opposition leader Dr. Samura Kamara of the All People’s Congress Party (APC) has a total number of 793,751 vote cast.
Also, the other Presidential aspirants have the following vote: Bah Mohamed Chernor of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has a number of 14,829 vote cast. Margai Charles Francis of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) has 9,621 vote cast. Coker Prince of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has 4,136 vote cast.
Kakay Iye of the Alliance Democratic party (ADP) has a total of 3,094 vote cast. Sowa-Turay Mohamed of the United Democratic Movement Party (UDP) has a total of 1,099 vote cast. Sandy Jonathan Patrick of the National Unity and Reconciliation Party (NURP) has 493 vote cast.
Jonjo Mohamed of the Citizens Democratic Party (CDP) has 1,663 vote vast. Saccoh Abdulai Dougakoro of the Revolutionary United Front Party (RUFP) has 4,780 vote cast. William Berseford Victor of the Republic National Independent Party (ReNIP) has 1,807 vote cast. Kamara Nabieu Musa of the Peace and Liberation Party (PLP) has 5,149 vote cast. Kabuta Saa Henry of the United National Peoples Party (UNPP) has a total of 2,865 vote cast so far.
According to Commissioner Konneh, the 60 percent of the total polling station results processed each district, cleared by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL). He added that the result encompasses the management system at Regional Tally center in Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Makeni, and Port Loko.
