The officially launching of the Edmire Ganda Foundation on 10th May 2025 was followed by the distribution of learning materials to 35 school children.
The Edmire Ganda Foundation is established in honor of the late Mr. Edward Pascal Ganda and Mrs. Admire Sia Ganda (née Kpakiwa) who were dedicated civil servants who served Sierra Leone for over 30 years and both passed away while in active service. Mr. Edward Ganda was the Professional Head of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, and Mrs. Admire Ganda served as the Deputy Development Secretary (Level 2) at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. Both were prominent decision-makers across various ministries.
Mr. Edward Ganda also served as a board member of the Road Maintenance Fund and the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRTA), among several other institutions.
Mrs. Admire Ganda began her career at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service (SLBS) and held positions in the Ministry of Education and the SABARBU Project. She later served as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, was a board member at SLEPA and the Standards Bureau, and eventually rose to the position of Deputy Development Secretary (2) at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. For her service to the nation, she was recognized among the 50 Most Influential Women in Sierra Leone.
The Edmire Ganda Foundation is focused on supporting underprivileged and physically challenged persons, orphanages, children living on the streets, victims of drug abuse (particularly “Kush”), and those affected by national disasters.
“Growing up, we were fortunate to have access to quality education, proper nutrition, safe housing, and above all, love. With the same love and commitment, we are dedicated to nurturing, educating, and empowering children—giving them the opportunity to grow into the best version of themselves,” Anthony Hinga Ganda said.
Though the Edmire Ganda Foundation is newly formalized, Edward and Admire were long engaged in sponsoring students and supporting the less privileged. To keep their legacy alive, we have developed a strategic activity and work plan. With God’s grace and strong intentions, we are confident this foundation will positively impact the lives of many children across the country, he noted.
While Edmire Ganda Foundation operations are currently focused in Freetown, Edmire Ganda Foundation plan to expand to the provinces and beyond in the coming months. The foundation is managed by the Ganda family members and supported through proceeds from the family business and contributions from friends and well-wishers.
