The Electrical Distribution Supply Authority (EDSA) has exposed the government of President Bio by asking for increment in their tariff because of inflation in the country which they say is seriously affecting them.

At a press conference held on Tuesday, 29 August 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Conference Room at Tower Hill, Freetown, the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, confirmed to press workers that EDSA has proposed to the government for the increment in their tariff because of the inflation in the country.

According to the Minister, the EDSA request came as a result of the high cost of prices and the skyrocketing of the foreign exchange on a daily basis. This necessitated the EDSA request to increase their charges on citizens and businesses across the country.

He furthered that EDSA had already gazette this message to the necessary authorities, but he said the government being a listening government, they will seat and review the EDSA request, adding that they will also seek the attention of the public before they will embark on any resolutions on whether or not the government will accept EDSA’s request to increase their tariffs.

He noted that there are no increments at the moment in any of EDSA’s charges across the country, ‘so people should be aware, but what is clear is that, they had requested for increment in their charges’.

He assured the public that the government will surely look into EDSA’s request and come out with positive resolutions that will be in favour of the general public.
