The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad Sackey, has hailed Choithram International School as a model institution driving forward Sierra Leone’s educational reforms. Speaking at a recent event held at the school’s campus, Minister Sackey delivered a powerful and uplifting address that emphasized the transformative role of education in shaping the nation’s future.

Representing the government, Minister Sackey praised the school for its alignment with the Free Quality School Education (FQSE) Initiative—one of the government’s flagship programs aimed at ensuring access to quality education for all children, regardless of their socio-economic background or ability.

“Choithram International School stands as a beacon of modern and inclusive education in Sierra Leone,” the Minister said. “Your alignment with the Free Quality School Education Initiative reflects a deep commitment to national development and the belief that education is a fundamental right.”

He acknowledged the school’s efforts in promoting diversity, emotional well-being, and environmental responsibility—key pillars that reflect the evolving nature of education in the 21st century. The Minister emphasized that education must not only prepare students to pass examinations but must also equip them with life skills, emotional intelligence, and social awareness.

“Our goal is to nurture human capital that can meet the demands of today and the challenges of tomorrow. That means educating the whole child—not just for grades but for life,” Sackey stated.

He particularly commended the school’s inclusive approach to education, noting that Choithram International School ensures children of all learning abilities are recognized, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive. This, he said, is central to building an equitable education system that leaves no child behind.

Environmental stewardship also featured prominently in the Minister’s remarks. He lauded the school for fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental consciousness among its students. “Instilling environmental responsibility is not just empowering—it is urgent. As we face global climate challenges, our children must be part of the solution,” he said.

Minister Sackey also celebrated the school’s recent milestone of becoming a Cambridge-accredited institution. He described the international accreditation as a significant achievement that places Choithram International School on the global stage for excellence in education.

“This recognition is not only a testament to your high standards, but it also reflects the quality of your leadership, staff, and the dedication of your students and parents,” he remarked.

In his closing remarks, the Minister called for continued collaboration between the government and private education providers to build a future where every child’s education is marked by dignity, relevance, and hope.

“Let us all commit to a future where education in Sierra Leone is not only free but transformative—rich in opportunity and grounded in values that prepare our youth to be agents of change,” he concluded.

The event was attended by school administrators, teachers, students, and parents, all of whom warmly received the Minister’s message of encouragement and shared responsibility in the nation’s educational journey.
