Press Release
1st August, 2024
The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority wishes to inform the general public that on the 1st August 2024, all consumers of electricity are required to upgrade their prepaid meters through the purchase of electricity tokens.
Upon purchase of the electricity token, the customer will be issued sixty (60) digit numbers with separators after every twenty (20) digits. Customers should ensure that the numbers are inputted in 20 digits after every 15 seconds until all the 60 digits are correctly imputed. Once the above process is completed, the meter will display an indicator of 02’ or ‘success’.
It is also important to note that the 60 digits will be issued to customers just once and that the meter will be upgrade. However, the following meters are not compliance with the second generation of tokens:
‡ APATOR METERS
‡ MOMAS METERS
The Authority has prioritized the continuous replacement of these set of noncompliance meters and further asks that all customers with these types of meters should report to EDSA’s offices across the country.
Meanwhile, during this period of the meter upgrade exercise, customers are advised to continue using telecoms platforms (Q-Cell, Orange and Africell), other aggregators like Vendtech, Mercy Holdings, Lynx Solutions, Dycar and EDSA offices to procure token at ease for the meter upgrade exercise.
Moreover, the Authority is appealing with Customers across the country to spare 10mins of their time to undertake the meter upgrade exercise in order to avoid challenges in accessing electricity after the expiration date on the 30* October,
- Also, customers are encouraged to reach out to EDSA whenever they experience challenges during the upgrade exercise through 6721 or *WHATAPP 077672672 or on Facebook:*https://www.facebook.com/EDSASalone
