The Management of Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority wishes to inform the general public that CLSG/TRANSCO informed the Authority that the SVC interconnection infrastructure in Monrovia, Liberia got damaged on Saturday, 29th July, 2023 which has caused major disruption of electricity supply to Sierra Leone.
It is worth to note that the CLSG network running from Mano to Bumbuna is heavily dependent on the availability of the Monrovia SVC operations. Therefore, the unfortunate damage on the Monrovia SVC has resulted to power outages in Bo, Kenema Koidu and a reduction of supply to Freetown from the CLSG transmission line.
Meanwhile, the Authority has operationalized the EMCO Machines in Bo Power House, Thermal Machines in Kono Power House and the Dodo Hydro Dam in Kenema as alternatives in providing power to residents in the above named communities.
To this end, the Authority further apologizes to its valued customers for the inconvenience this situation have caused while also assuring residents particularly in Bo, Kenema and Kono that the Authority will collaborate with CLSG in ensuring the replacement of the damaged SVC in Monrovia and facilitate normal supply as soon as work is completed.
