The Leadership, Senior Management, and Staff of the Ministry of Finance presented a token of appreciation to the Hon Minister of Finance, Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, on Monday, 16th March 2026.
He was crowned Africa Government Minister of 2025 by the African Leadership Magazine (ALM) during the 15th Edition of the ALM Persons of the Year (POTY) Awards held in Accra, Ghana, on 27th February 2026.
Presenting the appreciation plaque, the Financial Secretary, Matthew Dingie, congratulated the Minister on winning this prestigious award, stating that the staff and management of the Ministry of Finance are proud of the minister’s achievement.
He further stated that the presentation is intended to associate themselves with the award and to demonstrate gratitude for the minister’s leadership in achieving progress in Sierra Leone’s economic management.
In his response, Minister of Finance, Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, noted that this recognition is for all staff of the Ministry of Finance and the Government of Sierra Leone. He also stated that such recognition is a manifestation of the work the staff of the Ministry of Finance is doing to support his leadership in achieving economic stability and growth.
The ALM Persons of the Year Awards are Africa’s premier public-choice recognition platform. They celebrate leaders whose vision, courage, and transformative actions are shaping the continent’s development. Minister Bangura emerged as the African Government Minister of the Year 2025, with 31.42 percent of the total votes.
The poll attracted robust participation from every region of the African Continent and beyond, underscoring widespread recognition of his contribution to strengthening economic governance, advancing critical fiscal and institutional reforms, and promoting financial stability and sustainable development in Sierra Leone.
