Freetown, Sierra Leone, five accused persons Friday, 25 October, 20224 was arraigned before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 on two count charges of conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law and shopping breaking and larceny contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916. They accused persons are, Mohamed Kamara, Zainab Kamara Turay, Mohamed Kamara Zakaria Sankoh and Abdul Samuel Koroma.
According to the particulars of offence, on Monday 4th October, 2024 at Koroma Lane, Calaba Town, Freetown in Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony with shop breaking and larceny.
Counts two further stated on the above date and place, the accused persons broke and entered in to the shop of Fatmata Koroma with intent to steak there in four big size rubber mayonnaise each value Two Hundred and Eighty Leones (Le280). The total amount of One Thousand One Hundred and Twenty Leones (Le1,120,00), twenty big size cooking oil each value at six hundred and eighty Leones (Le 680,00) total value of Eighteen Thousand Six Hundred Leones ( Le 18,600), five cartoon maggie each value at Six Hundred and Fifty Leones (Le 650) total of Three Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty Leones (Le 3,350,00) Twenty four sweet milk carton (padi) each value Nine Hundred and Forty Leones (Le 940,00.00) total to Twenty-Two Thousand Five Hundred and Sixty Leones (Le 22,560,00) and one carton bottle mayonnaise value One Thousand and Eighty Leones (Le 10,80,00).
All to the total value of Forty-One Thousand Six Hundred and Ten Leones (Le 41, 610, 00). properties of Fatmata Kamara.
The prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Ibrahim S. Mansaray sought for a short adjournment date to have a proper interrogation with the witness.
The defence counsel, M. Y. Conteh, made an application on behalf of the second accuse, in which he said the accused person has a reliable sureties who are willing to and ready to stand in recognizance on her behalf. He noted that the accused person would not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses, nor will she jumped bail. He made his application pursuant to section 79 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail to all the accused persons and sent them to remain in custody in the male correctional centre in Freetown. However, the case was adjourned to November 1st, 2024, further hearing.
