Globalrisk Insurance Company (GIC) SL Ltd, one of Sierra Leone’s leading insurance companies, has presented over NLe 127,440 in cheques to the families of 16 deceased customers under its Gentri Assurance Policy and Guaranteed Education Assurance Policy. The beneficiaries, including the families of teachers, police officers, and other civil servants, received this financial support as part of GIC’s ongoing commitment to helping families facing financial challenges.
GIC’s Chief Executive Officer, Paul Oparah, expressed the company’s dedication to enhancing the lives of civil servants who have joined the company’s Life Assurance Scheme, enabling them to plan for a more secure financial future. He acknowledged the economic difficulties faced by many individuals globally but highlighted that insurance offers a means of financial stability for those planning long-term.
“Since our inception in 2020, GIC has expanded to branches in Makeni, Bo, and Kenema, with our headquarters located in Freetown,” Oparah said. He added that the company’s life insurance policies, which include coverage for civil servants, have already had a profound impact on the families of deceased customers, providing far more financial support than the deceased could have accumulated through savings.
Paul Oparah also emphasized the benefits of GIC’s policy loan scheme, which has been operational since 2021. The company has disbursed over NLe 300,000 monthly to customers nationwide, ensuring that families facing financial difficulties can access funds when needed. He noted that the Life Insurance contract itself serves as collateral for policy loans, making them more accessible.
While sending condolences to the families of the deceased, Oparah encouraged more people to join GIC’s insurance programs. He stressed the importance of private sector organizations like GIC in providing services that help elevate the lives of citizens.
“Our mission is to offer financial security to Sierra Leoneans, ensuring that they can live comfortable lives, plan for their future, and protect their loved ones,” Paul concluded.
The beneficiaries, including Emmanuel Fabba, a family member of one of the recipients, praised GIC for their trustworthy services. Fabba shared that he had once criticized GIC but was now convinced of the company’s reliability after seeing the benefits paid out to his late brother’s children.
One of the recipients, the next of kin of the late Mabinty Tholley, a teacher at Sham Sierra Islamic Secondary School in Rokel, received NLe 25,800, while the next of kin of the late Tamba Michael Samadia, a police officer in Koindu Town, received NLe 100,000. Other beneficiaries also received substantial amounts, helping them cope with the loss of their loved ones.
In closing, GIC’s presentation of cheques totaling over NLe 127,440 highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts to support families during difficult times and encourage others to join their life assurance programs for a secure future.
