A historic partnership agreement has been signed between Sierra Leone’s foremost mobile money service, Afrimoney and the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA). The Bulk Payment agreement, signed to facilitate cash transfer to the country’s aged is a critical component of the World Bank funded Government of Sierra Leone social safety-net programme.
This groundbreaking partnership has once again demonstrated Afrimoney’s commitment to prioritize and promote people’s welfare alongside its key business objectives – essentially creating value for all stakeholders including marginalized groups in society. This in effect has invariably fulfilled a very important social pillar in the Sustainable Development Goals.
On the margins of a review meeting held between NASCA, the World Bank and other partners at the Freetown City Council on Tuesday, 15th April 2025, the agreement to utilize Afrimoney as a quick, easy and safer mobile money platform to transfer cash remittances to over 11, 600 beneficiaries was officially signed amidst rapturous applause from Afrimoney and NACSA staff present.
“We are here to work with Afrimoney to ensure we give our people the services they deserve…we believe this platform will comfortably transfer funds to our people” said NaCSA Commissioner, Chief Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina as he reaffirmed his organization’s willingness to partner with Afrimoney. The NaCSA Commissioner also expressed delight at the competitive rates provided by Afrimoney, averring; “we are also impressed that the rates we have from Afrimoney are better than what we had from other organizations”
CEO for Afrimoney, Martison Obeng-Agyei stated his company’s commitment to always integrate the company’s financial goals and the welfare of citizens. To this end, he hoped that agreement shall be the beginning of a long -lasting relationship with NaCSA. He reaffirmed Afrimoney’s commitment to the project’s implementation and full accountability.
The agreement was officially signed by the CEO, of Africell, Shadi-Al Gerjawi and the NaCSA Commissioner. Also present was the Deputy Commissioner of NaCSA, Jimmy Batilo Songa.
