Fostering Integrity and Unity: Highlights from the NRA’s Annual Staff Town Hall Meeting

The National Revenue Authority (NRA) convened its Annual Staff Town Hall Meeting on Saturday 5th July 2025 under the inspiring theme of “Integrity In Tax Administration.” This significant event brought together all staff members from various departments for a dynamic and forward-thinking dialogue. The well-attended gathering served as a vital platform to reflect on past achievements, address pressing concerns, and collaboratively chart the way forward in enhancing the Authority’s operations and prioritizing staff welfare.

In her opening statement, the Deputy Commissioner General 1, Mrs. Ann Marie Baby Harding, called on staff to be steadfast in mobilizing revenues, thereby urging them to remain committed in ethical conduct and ensure professionalism at all levels of operation.

In her keynote address, Commissioner General Madam Jeneba J. Bangura delivered an empowering message focused on the importance of integrity, emphasizing its pivotal role in maintaining public trust and ensuring the Authority’s effectiveness which is why investigations are ongoing in relation to an alleged revenue diversion. She highlighted ongoing initiatives aimed at improving staff welfare, including the procurement of two buses to address transportation challenges and the re-introduction of a medical scheme designed to support the health and well-being of all employees. These efforts underscore the Authority’s commitment to creating a supportive work environment that values its staff.

During the meeting, the Commissioner General also shared insights from a recent courtesy call on His Excellency the President, where she and the NRA Board presented the latest Audit Chart and discussed the Authority’s financial standing and progress in revenue mobilization. She took the opportunity to commend the dedication and resilience of every staff member, particularly in navigating the challenges faced in revenue generation. This acknowledgment reinforced the shared commitment to the Authority’s mission and highlighted the critical role of each employee in sustaining its performance.

While giving his closing remarks, the Deputy Commissioner General II Gerald H.P. Ganda emphasized that all staff are important in revenue mobilization drive and should be treated equally.

A presentation was featured from the Internal Affairs Unit which discussed on the issue of transparency, accountability and the need to uphold integrity

The event featured presentations from the Commissioners of the three operational departments- Non-Tax, Domestic Tax, and Customs Services who outlined key reforms and strategies that have significantly enhanced the NRA’s revenue collection efforts. Their updates showcased operational successes, innovative practices, and the positive impact of ongoing reforms on national revenue performance. The Director of Human Resources, Madam Dora N. Tucker, also addressed critical staff-related policies, focusing on career development, workplace discipline, and welfare provisions. The interactive format of the meeting culminated in a lively question-and-answer session, allowing staff to voice concerns, seek clarifications, and offer suggestions directly to the leadership. As the Town Hall concluded, the resounding themes of unity, integrity, and a shared commitment to national development through efficient and transparent revenue administration echoed throughout the gathering.
