Four Remanded for Cannabis Cultivation

Magistrate Mark Ngeba of Pademba Road Court No1, Freetown, Tuesday 4 April 2023, remanded Samba Mustapha, Samay Momoh, Mohamed Kallon and Hassan Kargbo to the Male Correctional Centre for the cultivation of cannabis.

The four accused were arraigned before the court on a count charge of cultivating cannabis sativa without lawful authority contrary to Section 7 of the National Drugs Control Act of 2008.

It was however allegedly by the police that the accused, between Thursday 1st December 2022 and 16th February 2023 at Waterloo the cultivation of prohibited drugs to wit cannabis sativa weighing 1, 367.5 kilograms without lawful authority.

Meanwhile, the accused pleaded not guilty after charges were read and explained to them.

The prosecutor, ASP Christiana Davies Cole requested for an adjournment date, noting that the prosecution witness was absent in court.

The four accused persons were not represented in court.

Magistrate Mark Ngeba adjoined the matter for next hearing.
