“Fellow Liberians, I have received today news of the eviction and destruction of our Party Headquarters. Unfortunate and regrettable as this is, I wish to encourage all Liberians, especially our supporters and sympathisers to stay calm, remain law abiding and respect due process, in the interest of our democracy, the rule of law and a peaceful co-existence among all Liberians irrespective of party, social, ethnic or tribal affiliations.
Fellow Liberians, fellow partisans of the Coalition for Democratic Change, today we witnessed yet another testament of the Unity Party government gross disregard for the rule of law. Emboldened by impunity, they continue to abuse power, testing our nation’s fragile peace and democracy. Their list of violations grows daily—from police brutality against ordinary citizens to outright disregard of court orders.
We must, however, take the high road. In the interest of peaceful coexistence, I urge everyone to remain calm, law-abiding, and respectful of due process, despite this partisan political mischief from the Unity Party government.
In the legal battle over the ownership of the CDC headquarters, our party has always followed the rule of law and openly stated its willingness to abide by the court’s final ruling, regardless of the outcome.
Yet, before the matter was fully exhausted, the trigger-happy, partisan leadership of the police force, with direct instructions from Boakai himself, sprang into action. This was not a lawful eviction; it was a failed mission to destroy and erase the CDC in an attempt to fulfil the very wish Boakai has repeatedly expressed to his lieutenants.
While executing this criminal act, amid the cheers of their partisans, they failed to notice the loud silence of the vast majority of ordinary Liberians. Our people are in disbelief at this administration’s reckless behavior in its quest to consolidate power.
Posterity will punish them harshly.
While the loss of our office building is a setback, I want to emphasize that it is only temporary. We shall overcome this sooner rather than later, thanks to your unwavering commitment, determination, and resilience fellow Cdcians, coalitions, well wishes and sympathizers.
Fellow partisans , do not be despair. While we admit these are difficult times, our party has faced worse situations — even from the very same actors we see today—and we have emerged stronger. We shall prevail.
The UP leadership under Boakai are destroyers, but we are builders.
A Special National Headquarters Delivery Committee is being established to immediately begin the construction work so that we can have a modern, state of the art new home in record time. We shall execute this while we emabrk on a national tour to inform our people
In my journey to the heights I have achieved, I have seen such hiccups before. We shall never waver. Together we will build.
We are survivors by history. We are blessed with a spirit that overcomes even the most tragedies and misfortunes. Remember: the unity, strength, and identity of our Party and coalition are not found in bricks and mortar. They live in the minds, hearts, and fighting spirit of our teeming supporters.
Therefore, I call on every member of our party, our sympathizers, to mobilize and focus our energies on constructing our next premises. I must be clear: resist the temptation to take the law into your own hands. However disappointed we are by this outcome, I call on each of you to continue respecting the law and due process. Fellow partisans, well wishes and sympathizers I am optimistic about our political future.
Together, we will build a better homeland for our party. So help me God.
God bless Liberia.
