Following the unwarranted physical attack on him in the Well of Parliament on Tuesday 28 June 2022 by the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party’s (SLPP) ‘Floyd Mayweather’, Member of Parliament, Hon. Abdul Muniru Lansana of Constituency 121 in Western Area, the Chief Executive Officer of Gbla and Co Multimedia Consulting has registered a formal complaint against the lawmaker to the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists.

In a complaint letter addressed to the leadership of SLAJ, Abdulai Gbla of Gbla TV said he was physically assaulted and pushed in the Well of Parliament by SLPP ‘Floyd Mayweather’ MP, Hon. Abdul Muniru Lansana whilst filming a parliamentary proceeding which was characterized by serious confrontation between the incumbent SLPP and main opposition APC MPs.

According to his letter of complaint to SLAJ, the violent-cultured oriented and uncooked politician who went to parliament via a politically-motivated court ruling that removed ten legitimately elected All Peoples Congress MPs from their seats knocked his Samsung Galaxy Note 20 ULTRA phone on the floor in a bid to prevent him from recording the proceeding, in the full view of all MPs.

“I should turn off my camera and stop recording since parliamentary proceeding were over for the day; knowing fully well that there were some bitter confrontations between the ruling SLPP and the main opposition (APC) MPs right in front of the eyes of public in the Well of Parliament which I was capturing,” Gbla explained.

Abdulai Gbla’s letter to SLAJ further states: “Hon. Lansana even physically advanced at me but I was rescued by the Leaders of the Opposition, of Government Business and of C4C, Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, Hon. Matthew Sahr Nyuma and Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina respectively. The latter, Hon. Lamina, literally escorted me away from the raging Hon. Lansana who apparently wanted to assault me further.”

He also drew the attention of SLAJ to the same Hon. Abdul Muniru Lansana, who has always spoken ill of him to his colleague MPs.

The SLPP MP’s apparent grudge against Abdulai Gbla and Gbla TV seemingly developed a year ago when the CEO of this story – URL: https://youtu.be/2g2ewPSWHFI about him and some bike riders in Constituency 121 who raised serious concerns about a certain development Hon Lansana wanted to implement. (Click the link above for the story).

He is obviously angry with Abdulai Gbla and Gbla TV because he made reference to him as being one of the MPs that came to Parliament as a result of a court ruling, that was unlawfully slammed against ten APC MPs and removed them from their seats.

Abdulai Gbla is one of the longest-serving Parliamentary Press Gallery members and his assault by the SLPP Floyd Mayweather MP has received wide criticisms from the public and the traditional and new media.
